 1. Lord Rama and the Solar Dynasty Lord Rama belonged to the Ikshvaku dynasty, traditionally known as the Suryavamsha (Solar Dynasty). In the Valmiki Ramayana, Ayodhya Kanda, Chapter 2, Verse 52.102, there is a reference to Rama and Lakshmana consuming the meat of animals during their forest exile. The animals mentioned include: - Varaha – Wild boar - Rishya – A type of deer - Prishata – Spotted deer - Maharuru – A large species of deer According to the commonly accepted interpretation of this verse, Rama and Lakshmana consumed the meat of wild boar and deer. 2. Gautama Buddha and the Solar Dynasty Gautama Buddha was born into the Shakya clan. Certain Buddhist genealogical traditions trace the Shakyas back to King Ikshvaku, connecting them with the ancient Suryavamsha (Solar Dynasty).
